A completely new mix for winter! A loose blend of flavours to mix in with sugar and heat with drinks such as wine, cider, ginger beer, apple juice, or mead, for a luscious, fruity, slightly peppery, warming mouthful.
All five flavours add equally to the blend, but the "Muntrie" alliterated nicely with "Mulling Mix" for the name.
Each pack contains:
- Whole freeze-dried Muntries
- Whole dried Mountain Pepperberry
- Ground dried Finger Lime or Lemon Aspen
- Whole Lemon Myrtle leaves
- Whole Forestberry Herb
This mix is made on the lands of the Gundungurra people of New South Wales.
To make your mulled drink:
- Crush the whole leaves in your hand, and add all contents to 750ml of your preferred drink.
- Add 50g - 100g of sugar. (We recommend trying our Spicy Fruit Sprinkle).
- Heat very gently until the sugar is dissolved.
- Scoop off the floating Muntries and reserve.
- Strain the liquid into a separate saucepan. (We recommend straining as the spices do tend to leave a residue).
- Add another bottle or two to the mulled blend and heat to blend.
- Taste and adjust - you may need more sugar.
- Add the Muntries back to the mix, and eat them separately as they absorb the liquid.
We've trialled this with Altina Drinks' non-alcoholic Sparkling Sansgria, and it is utterly delicious - recommended.
Otherwise, try it with:
- Red wine (sparkling or still)
- Cider
- Mead (we recommend Stone Dog Brewery, and not just because they live over the hill from us!)
- Apple juice
- Ginger Beer - alcoholic or non-alcoholic
